Nano brows vs powder brows vs microblading
The short answer
Nano brows and microblading both create hair strokes, but nano uses a machine with a single fine needle and is generally gentler on the skin. Powder brows create a soft, filled-in look and work on every skin type, including oily. Combo brows blend strokes and shading. Powder brows typically last longest.

Is nano brows the same as microblading?
They create a similar look, but they're done differently. Microblading uses a handheld tool to cut fine lines into the skin, then deposits pigment into them. Nano brows use a machine with a single ultra-fine needle to implant pigment stroke by stroke. Many artists and clients prefer nano because it's generally gentler on the skin, and strokes often heal crisper on a wider range of skin types. I specialize in nano and machine shading, so microblading isn't something I offer.
Which one is right for you?
- Choose nano brows if you have some brow hair, normal to dry skin, and want the most natural, no-makeup look.
- Choose powder brows if you fill your brows in every day, have oily or mature skin, or want the longest-lasting option.
- Choose combo brows if you want hair-stroke texture with more fullness and definition.
You don't have to decide before you book. We'll look at your skin, your natural brows, and your routine together, and I'll recommend what will heal best for you.
Common questions
Which permanent brow technique lasts the longest?
Powder brows typically last longest, often one to three years, because shading holds up well as it fades. Hair-stroke techniques usually last one to two years.
Can I get hair strokes if I have oily skin?
Oily skin can blur fine strokes over time. Combo brows are often the best of both worlds, with strokes where they show most and shading to keep everything looking full.
Can I switch techniques later?
Yes. At a color refresh, many clients add shading to hair strokes, or soften the look. We'll adjust as your preferences change.
